Installation & Mounting Guidelines

CORBELS

We always recommend you use the services of a professional contractor to ensure your mantel is correctly and safely installed.

Corbel Installation

Things To Remember

  • Corbels are a decorative and aesthetic accessory to your mantel.
  • The weight of the mantel will be held by either the metal straps or the 2x4 (if notched) and not on the corbels themselves.

Notched Mantel Back Corbel Installation

  • NOTE:  Be sure to install the corbels onto the mantel before you install the mantel onto the 2x4/2x6/2x8/2x10.
  • Apply some wood adhesive onto the top of the corbel and secure it to the bottom of the mantel in the desired location.
  • Use wood angle screws to secure the corbels to the mantel by drilling down at an angle into the corbel.
  • Wood adhesive and wood angle screws are not included with your corbels.

Metal Strap Corbel Installation

  • If you will be mounting your mantel/corbels to your fireplace wall first using metal straps and then installing stone/brick around your mantel/corbels, you would simply hang the corbel onto the metal strap and secure it that way.
